The background
Ecolean is a Swedish manufactures of lightweight and sustainable packaging solutions. Their aim is to have an impact by making packaging as simple, lightweight and sustainable as possible while being able to guarantee absolute freshness of the product contained. An example of that is their pitcher shaped package that is entirely made of a single thin plastic sheet that can stand on its own and has an integrated air-filled handle. It looks and feels just like a real pitcher, but once empty takes up as much waste space as any other small plastic bag.
The case
Over more than 10 years Van Remmen is Ecoleans valued partner for integration of disinfection solutions in their product spectrum. To be able to sanitise the package itself as well as the internals of the machine in operation it is important that a high degree of disinfection can be guaranteed on all affected surfaces. Ecolean shares our vision that UV-c light is an excellent tool for this with minimal energy consumption and ease of integration.
The solution
For Ecolean a tailor made UV-c solution is developed that works together with their own integrated hydrogen peroxide vaporiser. The extra hydrogen peroxide vapor makes sure all small nooks and crannies where UV-c light doesn’t penetrate are also secured. The UV-c solution consists of cassettes that are specifically optimised for this application with tailor made reflectors to have an as homogenous light field as possible over the dimensions the customer specified. A custom cabinet that integrates with their machine and standards controls and guards the units disinfection.
